Its rich history and fascinating culture has given Tanzania the title of "Cradle of Humanity".
It is known that some of the oldest ancestors of mankind have walked these lands for millions of years and this fascinating combination of cultures, together with its spectacular concentration of animals is, indeed, what made me fall in love with this land from the very first moment.

The endless plains of Serengeti & Mnemba Private Island

Our trip to this spectacular region has been mainly focused on the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro conservation area, the largest volcanic caldera in the world. We got there at an ideal time of the year, right after the rainy season and a few months after the animal birthing season, with the landscape in full splendour and a lot of animal life!

The first thing that impressed me upon our arrival at Klein's Camp, located on a private concession next to the Serengeti, was the infinity of its plains. In the Maasai language, Serengeti means precisely "Plains without limits".

The people's kindness welcoming us, the astonishing light at dawn and at sunset from the terrace of our "cottage"..., that immensity seemed to be there just for us!

When you do a safari in Africa, you discover how important is the quality of your guides and trackers by all the experiences and amazing moments that you live with them on site. I remember with great emotion the first time our guide shouted: "Lion!!! Leopard!!!"

Their ability to spot animals is awesome, even the most shy and elusive!

It is a privilege to be able to enjoy animal life in a private concession, where you can explore the area “off road" and approach the animals much more easily. Our guides and all the staff at Klein's Camp took care of us to the fullest, with delicious breakfasts in the Sabana, cocktails at nightfall under a million stars in the heat of the fire and listening to Maasai songs ... A perfect way to start enjoying this land.

Our next stop was a completely different place, full of contrasts in comparison to our previous experience: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.
The entrance to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is really stunning, with abundant vegetation, wild flowers of all kinds, settlements of Maasai communities (the only ones authorised within the park) and its impressive crater!

Ngorongoro Crater Lodge is a classic that maintains the essence of the old safaris and offers a vintage luxury and an excellent comfort that still makes it very special. It has an unbeatable and really convenient location, on top of a hill that overlooks the crater that is home to about 25,000 animals. It is really one-of-a-kind. The great concentration of predators and the many possibilities of being able to see the "Big 5" provides really astonishing moments.

You can find a large number of vintage editions of National Geographic in the lounge bar, as well as traditional African table games and a wonderful staff that will serve you the best cocktails before dinner.

To choose the right season is essential in Ngorongoro, as it will allow you to enjoy animal life in the front row without crowds.

To finish our safari experience, we still had one final excitement to enjoy: to stay in a mobile camp right in the middle of all the animals migration from Serengeti to Masai Mara, at the andBeyond Serengeti Under Canvas.
This was an exceptional experience, as we stayed in tents that vary their location depending on the movement of the animals' migration.

The nights in this type of accommodation are unique, with all the sounds of nature surrounding you while you sleep.
Although this kind of lodging has some limitations, the experience of such a direct contact with nature is really special and our private butler made our stay really comfortable.

After so many emotions and so much intensity, we needed a few days of relaxation and rest. We found the perfect place for that in the crystal clear waters of the small island of Mnemba Private Island, northeast of Zanzibar. Located just 15 minutes from the north of Zanzibar by speedboat, Mnemba makes you feel totally isolated from the world, in an accommodation that offers a rustic and cared luxury, with all kind of comforts.

As soon as we jumped on the beautiful waters of the island from our boat we realised we were in a very special place. We had a warm welcome accompanied by delicious sushi and signature cocktails, what instilled us very good vibes.

Mnemba is a small island but it offers everything you need to rest, to be active if you wish, to enjoy excellent cuisine and, among all, to forget about your shoes for the entire stay! It is the place chosen by a large number of giant tortoises to spawn, and those nests are carefully taken care by the Mnemba marine life experts.

We had one of those nests right in front of our villa, with the spawning date and the expected birthdate of the small turtles. It was really exciting!

Mnemba has very calm waters to practice snorkelling, diving, fishing and navigation. A getaway in the purest "Robinson Crusoe" style but with all the conveniences you can think of.

The perfect end to a trip full of emotions and contrasts!
