After a spectacular journey among beautiful lakes and mountains, a 2-hour drive away from Zurich, we arrived at Andermatt, a small and picturesque town located in the most impressive high valleys of Switzerland.
Andermatt remains in a certain way anchored to the past, it transported us to the James Bond era in his film Goldfinger. And among these mountains we discovered a true gem: The Chedi Andermatt hotel.
Upon our arrival in Andermatt, the thermometer displayed -12ºC but as soon as we crossed the threshold into the hotel’s lobby, we were enveloped by a warm and cosy atmosphere, a combination of elegant alpine style with chic Asian details.
The combination of traditional elements and innovative architectural design creates a welcoming ambience completed by a set of fireplaces along the lobby. This setting immersed ourselves in a quiet and comfortable atmosphere that made us feel like we had just arrived at the perfect mountain oasis.
Our room, with beautiful views over the hotel’s skating rink, also surprised us with its spectacular interior design, the scent of essential oils in the bathroom, the fireplace… And the icing on the cake, a delicious cheese selection, wine and champagne. The best welcome ever!
The Chedi offers so many interesting things that you won’t want to leave! A spectacular spa, high-end gastronomy, including an award-winning Japanese restaurant, with a Michelin star, a cosy cheese room offering a curated selection of the best cheese in the world...
The service at The Chedi Andermatt is impeccable, with a team of excellently trained staff who take care of everything to the last detail. The Ski Butlers team deserves special mention: they were fully committed to making sure our ski days and snow activities were the best.
After a brief talk to prepare our ski day and snow activities with the team, the following day the equipment was ready and perfectly prepared. At The Chedi they have a range of equipment of the highest level, as well as several high-end 4x4 vehicles with private driver, always ready to pick us up or take us wherever we wanted in Andermatt.
We were lucky enough to enjoy a beautiful snowshoeing walk, in addition to a couple of days on the slopes. Although the ski offer in Andermatt can’t compete with the slopes in Gstaad or Zermatt, it offers the possibility of a relaxed skiing holiday, completed by a stay at the wonderful oasis of The Chedi Andermatt.
