Returning to Venice this autumn, with perfect sunsets, now that the crowds are gone, enjoying its stunning palazzos, canals, gardens and museums, has been a true discovery!!
Venice has a great personality, full of history, culture, art and culinary events. And of course, a very special and intense relationship with cinema; Mastroianni, Visconti, Woody Allen, Daniel Craig performing one of the best 007 Secret Agent!!!
Any of its corners deserves a special take, it is so beautiful!
The stunning and just fully renovated St. Regis Venice was waiting for us, with one of the most unique welcomes in our suite, it was just the beginning of a dream getaway!
After a two year renovation, St. Regis emerges with an avant-garde and fresh design, very classy and full of art masterpieces.
One of the best addresses in Venice, off the Grand Canal and overlooking the spectacular Basilica Santa María della Salute, to wake up in one of its Grand Canal suites and enjoying breakfast with this views, is absolutely delicious!! With a remarkable staff, the level of service is outstanding.
Venetian adore their city and they have recovered it these months, so it is very easy to be sharing with a few of them an evening aperitivo in one of the lovelier spots in Venice to do so, the stylishly landscaped Grand Canal-side garden at the heart of the palazzi that make up the St. Regis hotel.
In the following months, Venice will be hosting a wide range of interesting exhibitions and cultural events; a short break of a few days is perfect for enjoying relaxed walks along the picturesque canals, visiting the exhibitions at Palazzo Grassi - Henry Cartier Bresson being one of them - or many others.
We did enjoy very specially La Salute quarter, full of small art galleries, smart craftwork shops and cozy restaurants, located in the sestiere of Dorsoduro (Sestiere is how Venetian name each of the six quarters of the city).
Here you can find the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, one of the most important museums of European and American art. The location and building deserve a visit in their own.
Sunsets are unique in Venice, the light is perfect and its buildings are painted with a perfect palette of colors.
We also had the opportunity of staying at The Gritti Palace, a classic off the Grand Canal that has hosted the cream of the crop of cinema and writers and singers of all times.
Its canal-side bar is one of the most vibrant places for the aperitivo and from our room terrace, we could enjoy the views with a glass of champagne, perfect to get tuned before dinner.
Did I mention dinner? For our farewell, we had the immense privilege of enjoying a full experience both culinary and artistic, in one of the most espectacular properties in Venice, Palazzo Papadopoli, where AMAN Venice is located.
A true jewel and the most exclusive place to stay in Venice. It is not by chance that The Clooneys chose this property for their wedding!!
Here, at Arva Restaurant we had the pleasure to enjoy one of the most unique dinners, thanks to chefs Dario Ossola and Norbert Niederkolfer (who has earned Restaurant St. Hubertus of the Rosa Alpina Hotel three Michelin stars), with the finest local ingredients of the region.
So close and so unique, now is the right moment
to re-discover Venice, no doubt!!
