Portugal is so close to Spain that sometimes we forget about it. However, it’s the perfect destination for a short getaway.
São Lourenço do Barrocal, a small rural boutique hotel located in the heart of the Alentejo, is ideal for a weekend trip. This area is undergoing a profound transformation, positioning itself as one of the most trendy destinations of the moment.
At São Lourenço do Barrocal, the interiors are sober and warm at the same time, creating a truly elegant atmosphere.
In fact, the hotel emits an incredible serenity. Its white buildings contrast with the landscape that surrounds it. There, in that environment, I was truly able to forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
During my stay, I took the opportunity to relax in the cozy spa of the hotel, while my daughter Carla enjoyed a horseback riding experience.
The nearby village of Monsaraz is very quiet and it’s an ideal place to wander among narrow streets and discover charming local shops.
In addition, this region is full of history. Inhabited for thousands of years, nowadays we still find traces of the Neolithic, such as an impressive menhir and the remains of a dolmen, hidden among the olive groves.
This experience was even better thanks to our expert archaeologist, who unveiled all the secrets surrounding these majestic structures.
