Aman Kyoto’s pavilions are a contemporary homage to the traditional Japanese Ryokan inns, in a landscape of spectacular gardens.
Aman Kyoto is placed in an old secret garden that provides a cozy retreat, a few minutes away from the centre of Kyoto. The complex, located in a deep forest at the foot of the mountain of Hidari Daimonji in Kyoto’s north, is within walking distance of the majority of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kyoto, and specially close to the Kinkaku-ji Temple, known as the Golden Temple.
The traditional pavilions, spacious and light-filled, are open to the exterior by means of great windows, and have been designed to foster peace, relaxation and contemplation at every turn. Their layout inside the gardens reflects the simplicity of traditional Japanese architecture integrating it surprisingly with the natural landscape of its surroundings.
The Hotel has six standalone Guest Pavilions housing 26 guest rooms. All guest rooms feature natural woods, king-size or twin beds and depending on the pavilion (Susuki, Nara, Kaede and Hotaru) face different directions ion the garden area. The Takagamine and Washigamine Pavilions house two ensuite bedrooms and are provided with a traditional Japanese tatami room, Western living room, dining room and kitchen area.
