After spending a weekend in La Garrotxa, I came back to Barcelona with the feeling of having been away for a whole week! A priceless feeling indeed.
We arrived at Les Comelles under a radiant spring sun that made us forget all our worries. In this farmhouse located in the Bas Valley, the only important thing you have to do is relax.
The decoration conveys a Zen ambiance: simple high quality furniture, pale and light colours combined with the wood and iron of a country house, solid stone and fireplaces in spacious spaces designed for relaxation.
The garden is divided into different areas to better enjoy every moment of the day, from dawn to dusk.
This idyllic setting is complemented by delicious slow food gastronomy; local ingredients cooked over coals, on a very slow burn, delicately served and slowly savoured, to enjoy each bite a 100%.
A weekend in La Garrotxa can be as active or as quiet as you want. If you like sports, you will have a great time hiking or riding a bike. Nature lovers will be able to enjoy a stroll with a botanical expert to discover the flora and fauna of the area. In autumn, you can look for wild mushrooms in the woods nearby and enjoy a cooking class at Les Comelles to learn the best mushroom recipes. If you want to enjoy your stay and make the most of Les Comelles, you can also practice Yoga or Pilates outdoors, on the platforms overlooking the valley.
During our visit we enjoyed a magnificent hot-air balloon flight over the volcanoes and up to Besalú. Ballooning is a fantastic activity that you have to experience at least once in your life. Witnessing the awake of a brand new day and listening to the birds chirping while flying over 1,500 meters above sea level is fascinating.
You will feel completely renewed when you get back home.
