A Scottish businessman, William Reid, opened the hotel more than a century ago. Reid's Palace has been visited by all kinds of personalities, such as Winston Churchill or Elizabeth of Austria, better known as Sissi. In the 1990s, a thorough renovation was carried out, but respecting and maintaining all the essential elements of this protected historic building. Therefore, Belmond Reid's Palace remains one of the most famous and glamorous hotels in Europe.
